The spotted lanternfly, also known as the Lycorma delicatula, made its first known establishment in North America in September 2014. Since then, the spotted lanternfly has caused serious damage by feeding on trees, vines, crops, and many other plant types. Not only does the spotted lanternfly cause plant damage, it also excretes a sugary substance that encourages black sooty mold growth on the plant.
The Spotted Lanternfly Reuseable Jar Trap can be used for effective insect control against adult spotted wing lanternflies. The trap attaches directly to a tree trunk with a circumference greater than 15" (38 cm). The trap funnels the spotted wing lanternfly into its reuseable jar / reservoir at the top.
