Surge Busters - Tank Baffle Balls
Overview
Product Description
The Surge Buster System is designed to function very differently from traditional baffle balls. The Surge Buster is a revolutionary retrofittable baffle system that utilizes an innovative design that eliminates 96% of the surge / kinetic energy in any truck, boat, aircraft, or vehicle with a liquid load, both front to rear and side to side. This also prevents a standing wave from forming by converting the directional momentum to a series of eddies and swirls throughout the tank. While creating this effect, virtually no directional surge can be produced. A result of this action, it has created an agitation system within the tank to help keep your product in suspension.
Three Surge Buster sizes to choose from:
- Surge Buster SB804 - has a 4" diameter disc for intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) and other small-capacity tanks. The overall length is 18" assembled.
- Surge Buster SB807 - has a 7" diameter disc for tanks with smaller openings. The overall length is 27" assembled.
- Surge Buster SB815 - has a 15" diameter disc for tanks with larger openings. The overall length is 27" assembled.

Unlike traditional baffle systems that rely on blocking surge and transferring it through the tank to the truck, Surge Busters dissipate the energy within the tank. Nothing is attached to the walls of the tank. The resulting benefit to the liquid load hauler is a safer load, reduced stress and fatigue on the driver, a 30-40% reduction in vehicle maintenance costs, and longer tank life. Surge Busters help extend the life of your tank, air ride shocks, air ride driver seat, king pins, 5th wheel jaw pins, springs, torque arm bushings, drive lines, brakes, tires, frames, as well as having beneficial effects on your engine's performance.
Surge Busters for truck and semi liquid load shift control are designed to prevent surging while the liquid cargo is transported. These ellipsoid spheres are available for certain liquid cargoes, including chemical, fuel and water cargo tanks of all sizes, milk trucks, army surplus tanks, and many other liquid load haulers.
Benefits of Surge Busters:
- Reduces liquid surge/loadshift
- Stabilizes liquids in the entire compartment
- Stress reduction to the operator
- Physical fatigue reduction to the truck frame, tank mounts, brakes, and automatic transmissions
- Ideal for stopping/emergency, in frosty/icy conditions, during braking and accelerating, while cornering and traveling on roads with high crowns
- Potential to help prevent accidents

Surge Buster Calculation Chart:
Start by finding the weight per gallon of the heaviest liquid you’ll be hauling in the left-hand column of the chart. Then, move across the chart to the right to find your tank size. The chart shows the number of Surge Busters needed based on liquid weight and tank size. For greater accuracy, refer to the "250," "500," or "750" columns. Be sure to check the reference link in the chart for correct chemical compatibility. Note: If your tank holds more than 100 gallons over the stated size, use the calculation for the next larger size. For example: If the customer has a 3500 gallon tank, add the amount under "500" to "3000" for the total. If the tank is 3600 gallons, move over to the next column and use the amount under "750". For water, the number of Surge Busters required for a 3600 gallon tank would be 94 + 24 = 118. If you are mixing other liquids, chemicals, aggregates, salt solutions, or similar materials, you must re-determine the resulting weight per gallon before calculating the correct quantity of Surge Busters. Failing to do so can result in product failure.
