Lovejoy Couplings

Rittenhouse carries only 4 sizes of Lovejoy couplings of the L090 series. The bore sizes are: 5/8", 3/4", 15/16" and 1". We can not source other sizes, even if you call us and ask.

The Lovejoy couplings are most commonly used to connect pumps to motors. The benefit of a Lovejoy coupling is that it is not a rigid connection between the pump and motor, therefore they will not put extra stress on the shaft or shaft bearings.

It is advised that you measure both shafts, because it is easy to make a mistake about the size of the shaft you want to put the coupling on.

An insert is required for each pair of Lovejoy couplings. It is advisable to purchase an extra insert for each set of Lovejoy couplings because it is the insert that takes the stress and will be the first item to wear down.

Each coupling has a keyway. The 5/8" and 3/4" couplings require a 1/8" key. The 15/16" and 1" have a 1/4" key.

There is a set screw on the Lovejoy coupling to clamp down on the key to keep it securely attached to the shaft.

You can mix and match all the couplings:

For example, suppose your pump has a 5/8" shaft, and your motor has a 3/4" shaft.

In this case, you should purchase (1) of the 5/8" coupling, (1) of the 3/4" coupling and (1) insert.

Note: The 15/16" does cost more (for some reason), so the price is not a typo.
