The Shurflo 8000-541-236 Automatic Demand Pump is part of Shurflo's 8000 series line of diaphragm pumps. It can handle low flow, low pressure applications, making it an excellent lawn and garden pump to use on agricultural sprayers / spot sprayers on the farm or around the yard for heavy-duty spraying and fluid transfer applications.
Equipped with Viton valves for maximum chemical resistance, this Shurflo 8000-541-236 Automatic 12V Demand Pump can handle use with many common agricultural chemicals, including pesticides, herbicides, liquid fertilizers, insecticides, and other hard-to-handle fluids. The pump's unique cone-shaped valve design delivers flow rates at maximum discharge pressures, making it a great choice for agricultural spraying around the lawn and garden or on the farm.
Demand Pumps are used in applications where you require a set flow and pressure. For example, spray wands used on spot sprayers.
How Demand Pumps Work: When the spray wand is shut off by the user, pressure in the line increases to a set point and the pressure switch will shut off the motor. The check valve inside the pump keeps trapped pressure in the line. When the user decides to turn the spray wand back on, the pressure in the line decreases. Once pressure falls below the set point the pump will restart. Advantages to using a demand pump is it saves wear and tear on the pump and extends the service life of the battery.
