A perfect piece of equipment for both professional plow and snow removal companies and residential home owners, this Chapin walk-behind spreader features an 80 lb. capacity poly hopper that is rust and weather resistant. The hopper will hold 80 lbs. of salt and ice melt material and is supported on a black powder-coated steel frame to withstand rugged outdoor use all winter season long.
Other features on this Chapin 88300B Salt and Ice Melt Spreader include a spiked, toothed auger inside the hopper that breaks up clumps of material, so your preferred salt or ice melt can flow easily through the gate opening. Enclosed metal alloy gears that protect from the weather. Front and side baffles that target where the ice melt should go by setting the front and side baffles, allowing for better direction and less wasted product so you're not spreading product where it's not needed. The large ergonomic T-shaped handle with rubber grips enable you to easily push the spreader through snow and over ice. And finally, 12" pneumatic tires with wide treads that allow you to move easily over uneven, snowy, or icy terrain all winter season long.
Applications: Ideal for spreading salt, halite, ice melt, potassium chloride, magnesium chloride, calcium chloride, and small evenly-sized particles on driveways, walkways, pathways, sidewalks, and more. Do not use with rock salt, lime, pelletized lime, lime mixes, sand, or sand mixes.
A rain / snow cover is included to protect the particulates inside the hopper while spreading during snowy or rainy weather.

Safety Notes: The auger is designed to work in forward motion. Excessive reverse motion could cause binding. If resistance is felt while pulling the spreader backwards, stop and clear the material from the auger. Do not use with sand and sand mixes, lime and lime mixes. Clean out your spreader after each use. Do not store material inside the hopper. Do not overload the hopper.
