High Impact Japanese Beetle Trap
The High Impact Japanese Beetle Trap. Lures are available separately.
This durable, easy-to-use trap will hold hundreds of male Japanese Beetles, attracting them from great distances. The deluxe perforated heavy plastic can traps the Japanese Beetle and is easy to empty. The Japanese Beetle Trap uses a floral and pheromone lure, which are replaced when the catch decreases.
If you have a Japanese Beetle problem, you should place one trap every 200' (60 m) around the perimeter. If you do not have a problem, do not use this trap to attract them. Traps should be placed in an open, bright area away from foliage and hung 3-1/2" to 4" (1 to 1.2 m) high for best results. For maximum effectiveness, a trap should be placed 10' (3 m) downwind of the foliage to catch beetles heading towards it. Placing traps near foliage will just attract more beetles into the foliage and should be avoided. The traps will work much better in bright areas than in shade.
The adult Japanese Beetles are 3/8" long metallic green oval shaped beetles with hard, copper-brown wing covers. Five small white tufts project from under the wing covers on each side, and a sixth pair at the tip of the abdomen.
The Japanese Beetle pheromone traps use two different lures. One mimics the scent of virgin female beetles and is highly attractive to males. The other bait is a sweet-smelling food-type lure that attracts both sexes. This combination of ingredients is such a powerful attractant that a trap can draw in thousands of Japanese Beetles in a day.
Maintenance: Inspect your trap periodically. The cage should be emptied when it is about half full of beetles.
