Don't hesitate the next time you encounter icy steps when you are using this Chapin hand crank spreader. Its compact size and portability make it ideal to spread salt and ice melt in smaller areas where larger spreaders cannot go, such as steps, sidewalks, walkways, stairs, around vehicles, and much more.
The 0.8 US gallon (3 L) capacity poly hopper can be filled with salt and ice melt and features a rugged poly scoop with a toothed edge for cutting through your spreading material to make scooping simple. The poly material protects against ice melt / halite and other harsh winter particles. The lack of metal parts inside this spreader means less wear and tear, as well as less corrosion. The large handle, which accommodates to both small and large-sized hands, is easy to grip and fill. The thumb-controlled gate adjustment enables you to adjust the gate opening with one hand while still cranking the handle and spreading with the other. You don’t need to stop and adjust the gate, you can just keep on walking while the impeller is responsible for delivering an even spread pattern.
Chapin 8705A Salt / Ice Melt Hand Crank Spreader Settings:
- Setting # 1: Fine-grain material (small granules)
- Setting # 2: Medium-grain material (medium granules)
- Setting # 3: Coarse-grain material (large rock salt)
Recommended for use with salt, halite, potassium chloride, magnesium chloride, and calcium chloride (small and pelletized particulates).
DO NOT USE WITH ROCK SALT, SAND, OR SAND MIXES.
